Unlike draftsmen and home designers, design architects are required to complete a university course, take practical placements and pass a registration examination before they can legally trade as an architect.

Architects are qualified to work public buildings, multi-storey complexes and grand-scale developments. Hiring one to build your new home or provide designs so you can renovate can be overkill as their skills tend to extend to much larger projects.
